Assunta Ng, Board Member


Born in China and raised in Hong Kong, Assunta Ng is the publisher of the Seattle Chinese Post and Northwest Asian Weekly, which she founded in 1984. Since that time, the two publications have won more than 100 international, national, and local awards for their writing and community service. She is a founding member of the Chinese Information Service Center (CISC) and the Women of Color Empowered (WoCE) luncheons. Through the nonprofit arm of her newspaper, the Northwest Asian Weekly Foundation (NWAWF), she has worked toward helping disadvantaged youth and women. Assunta has organized three scholarship endowments (the Gov. Gary Locke scholarship at UW’s School of Public Affairs, the API scholarship at for UW Foster School of Business’s undergraduate program, and one for Seattle College District). A frequent public speaker and a community mentor, Assunta has raised over three million dollars for charities, scholarships for foster children, Washington State University, Seattle University, and Seattle Community Colleges.
